Department of Physics
Το Τμήμα Φυσικής ιδρύθηκε το 1970 με το Ν.Δ. 746/1970 (Φ.Ε.Κ. 267/Α/12.12.1970) και είναι το τρίτο σε σειρά αρχαιότητας Τμήμα του Πανεπιστημίου Ιωαννίνων. Αποστολή του Τμήματος Φυσικής είναι αφενός η παροχή ποιοτικής θεωρητικής και πρακτικής εκπαίδευσης στους φοιτητές του στο αντικείμενο της Φυσικής αλλά και σε συναφή αντικείμενα (τεχνολογίες υλικών, χημεία, μαθηματικά, πληροφορική, ατμοσφαιρικές επιστήμες, και παιδαγωγικά), και αφετέρου η παραγωγή πρωτότυπης υψηλού επιπέδου έρευνας. Για το πλούσιο ερευνητικό του έργο το Τμήμα χαίρει διεθνούς αναγνώρισης ενώ διαδραματίζει ένα σημαντικότατο ρόλο στο επιστημονικό γίγνεσθαι της χώρας.
Το Τμήμα απαρτίζεται οργανωτικά από 4 Τομείς (Φ.Ε.Κ. 77/Β/28.02.1983):
- Astrophysics and Geophysics
- Theoretical Physics
- Atomic and Molecular Physics, Nuclear Physics, and High Energy Physics
- Solid State Physics and Physics of Materials and Surfaces
Certification
The Undergraduate Study Programme (U.S.P.) of the Department of Physics at the University of Ioannina has been accredited by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) and is fully compliant with the principles of the HAHE Undergraduate Study Programme Quality Standard, as well as with the Quality Assurance Principles of the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015), corresponding to Level 6 of the National and European Qualifications Framework.
